Increasing the Financial Literacy Skills of Senior Citizens

Project Description

The project addresses the problems faced by the social group of senior citizens above the age of 55 as more specifically it seeks to:
-Strengthen skills in the use of basic financial services
-Increase the knowledge for documentation and identification of documents required for opening accounts among financial institutions
-Strengthen their self-confidence through financial education
-Familiarize them with the financial system, the various fees, and the national charges
-Provide them with practical skills for safe financial management and enabling them to have better decision-making in the financial challenges
-Equip senior citizens with practical knowledge of online payments, banking operations and initiating transactions autonomously
Within the transnational context of the UpSenior project, the objectives are:
– To educate senior citizens on the types of financial dangers and their consequences
– To build better knowledge of the senior citizens to recognise and proactively adapt to online payments being aware of the security threats
– To lay the foundations of financial security policies at a higher/systemic level
– To enhance critical thinking amongst senior citizens relating to financial security

Our Role

Balkan Bridge leads the pilot testing session, from the development of the methodology for the implementation of these sessions in each partner country to the creation of the report that will have all the necessary feedback from the participants. The pilot testing sessions will test the training materials developed through the project to see if they respond to the needs of the target groups. Balkan Bridge will be also hosting the second transitional partners meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria.
